Most employers are now requesting that the potential new applicant completes a Jet Orientation Course - CRM Aviation's JOC has been designed to meet those needs.
The transition from flying slower single pilot aircraft (SPA) to your first type rating in multi pilot aircraft (MPA) at airliner jet speeds can be challenging, especially when you are also learning airline standard operating procedures (SOPs) as those that we teach in our MCC course.
An excellent method of preparing yourself for your airline selection assessments as well as your first type rating is by learning jet handling skills using procedures in our full EFIS glass cockpit Alsim ALX with complex systems based upon the Airbus- the only one in the UK! Find out more about our sim here
Our Jet Orientation Courses runs on alternate weeks, usually proceeding one of our MCC courses. The JOC comprises of a morning in the classroom followed by 4 hours in the simulator in the afternoon. During this time you will learn about Mach tuck, Dutch Roll, programming of the FMS through the MCDU's and high altitude operations.
This is an intense course and will require a sharp focus!
Throughout your theory morning you will learn about operating FMS' and MCDU's. This will then transpose across to your sim sessions as our sim is equipped with twin MCDU's. There, you will programme cost index's, flight plans and route info and couple the PFD and autopilot to fly SID's and STAR's with the LNAV functions.
At the end of the course you will receive a JOC completion certificate
Just a thought! - Don't do your JOC on an old analogue device - you're not going to be flying an old machine in your new job. Do your MCC on a full EFIS simulator. Chances are you'll go onto a 737-800 or Airbus 320 - they're all glass! And, any sim assessment is usually done on type which again will be an EFIS device!
